What’s Cooking; Yut’z Place
Walking through Jl. Werkudara is a fun activity. It’s busy and vibrating and the traffic is rushing by. Inside Yut’z place it’s a different world. It’s directly located at the sidewalk, but once inside you don’t feel rushed up anymore but surrounded by happy tourists, soft ambience music and pleasant smells from the kitchen.
A welcome drink is always a good idea, especially when it’s a frozen margarita. So Yut’z Place got that part right for sure!
Looking through the menu we were almost overwhelmed by the choices, so we asked what was recommended. We decided to take a salad first and some garlic bread, and as a main we took the recommended Fillet Steak, a German sausage and a Hungarian goulash. As you can read, Yut’z place is Swiss / German orientated restaurant. And not only the food, also the interior has some cozy European influences mixed with lots of candle lights and modern art.
The staff at Yut’z place is friendly and quick. The place was full so that’s why maybe they dropped their Bali Smiles sometimes. But they kept the service at full speed. So there came the starters; a Chigichick salad and garlic bread. The salad was good, lots of color in there and the right amount of chicken breast. Along with a good salad comes a good dressing and that’s what we got. The house dressing was delish! We were even using it as a dip. We (dutch people) love garlic bread as a starter and that’s something you shouldn’t skip in Yut’z place. Fresh soft bread with the right crunch. Just perfect.

About the main courses we are on the same level; good amount of food and good quality. The Coarse Pork sausage was made from an old Swiss recipe and comes with a tasty onion sauce. The plate was quite simple but what else do you need then a good piece of meat? Because it was recommended we also took the Fillet Steak and we understand the recommendation; the local beef is from a really good quality and the dish is just complete; your choice of sauce (mushroom, pepper or herb butter), your choice of potatoes and good tasting vegetables. Because the nights are getting a bit colder in Bali we loved to try out the Hungarian goulash. A good decision it was. The Goulash tasted the way it should. It had the same quality beef as the steak and the amount of it was just good. Also, the mashed potatoes were in a good balance, not watery or dry like in many other places.
After the satisfying dinner we end up talking for hours because we basically forgot the time. The nice owner and her husband were even treating us on a delicious espresso with an extra kick inside. The evening couldn’t end better.
Round Up:
Yut’z place is a Swiss / German restaurant with a wide range of selections. It’s suitable for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Next to German and Swiss food they also serve pastas, finger dishes and Indonesian courses. In the nighttime Yut’z place can be quite full, so maybe you want to reserve first (+62 812 395 1454).
