Bali Hati Foundation
Baru di Bali introduces THE HEART OF BALI to give a voice to Bali based charities and non-profit organizations to introduce themselves to our thousands of monthly readers in order to create awareness for their charitable programs and projects in Bali. Each month we invite another organization to answer a series of questions portraying their mission, accomplishments and future objectives.
What is your organization and what does it do?
Established in 1997, Bali Hati is a non-profit foundation that sponsors projects for the underprivileged in Balinese communities. Bali Hati places special emphasis on education and health. In August 2005, the government of Bali conducted a search for the most outstanding non-profit foundation in all of Bali. Bali Hati was selected as the BEST in the regency of Gianyar and then went forward to compete against the other seven regencies on the island. Bali Hati was selected the BEST in Bali. Then, from each of 33 provinces in Indonesia, the top foundations were invited to compete in Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital. Bali Hati was named the Number One Foundation in Indonesia.
What are your short-term and long-term goals?
Our short-term goal is really simple: to raise the community's awareness of various prevailing social, economic and health problems, and heighten community participation in alleviating these problems.
Our long-term goals are:
-
to improve the quality of the island's human resources through implementing formal and informal educational opportunities;
-
to provide scholarships to capable students who could not otherwise afford the costs of education;
to improve the level and quality of the island's public health through various well-focused, effective community-based health programs.
Has your organization made (or is making) any progress in achieving its goals?
Our school programs are running well and we are going to expand our school up to High School level. We have only the land purchased and was donated from an American couple but not the building yet. We are planning to have a fund raising but are open also to have any sponsor who would like to make a donation to make this happens.
Have your actions made any significant change in line with the goals and missions of your organization?
Yes, our actions have made significant changes, but still we have to make improvements and work harder. Fund is the main problem to run the program.
