Mama Sure Knows How to Cook

So you’re escaping the cold, European winter and find yourself in Bali around Christmas time. However pleasant this is, you might miss your mothers home cooking, cozy restaurants and hearty meals that you’re used to! If you do, MAMA’s german restaurant is the right place to visit this December. There are hundreds of different, typical German dishes and beverages available, many of which are only to be found in some German regions and nowhere else. MAMA’s, an authentic German restaurant is located in our very own Legian; making it easy and pleasant for German food enthusiasts in Bali to get completely satisfied.

German appreciation of healthy, well-prepared food served with care is well known. Thinking of German cuisine as only a mix of beer and sausage would be an unforgivable simplification. Everyone who loves to have a good meal will be impressed by German cooking. In fact, some of the world’s favorites such as meatloaf, hot dogs and hamburgers were hailed from this country. MAMA’s restaurant obviously understands this. The name of the restaurant itself is, to us, very inspiring. It might sound a bit cheesy, but we believe that many of us agree that nothing can beat the wonderful taste of the food prepared by our beloved mothers.

Anyway, it turned out that MAMA’s menu extends to the Mediterranean, Indonesian cooking, and steak and grill as well. From what it says on the menu, the international dishes sound yummy too. However, we were at a German restaurant; so we obviously couldn’t go for something that wasn’t traditionally German!

Sampling a few of the delicacies offered on the menu, we started the meal off with an appetizer of Bavarian Meat Platter (meat and cheese platter mixed with different sliced cold cut sausages and two sorts of cheeses). Our main dishes were Bavarian style Meat Loaf (with egg on top, served with home-made sauerkraut and pan fried potatoes) and Two Beef Rouladen (served with home-made red cabbage and mashed potato). These dishes were awesome; and MAMA’s laid-back and pleasant setting made everything even more marvelous.

Many already know this great restaurant and MAMA’s cafe is seriously packed on dinner time; we advice you to make a reservation. Whenever you want to feel ‘just like home’, MAMA’s is there for you 24 hours a day, which makes it the best spot for people with late night cravings.
